On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday,
all Catholics from age 18 to 59 inclusive are obliged to observe a sacred fast, that is, taking only
one full meal during the day and not eating between
meals. Also, on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, all
Catholics 14
years and older are obliged to abstain from eating
meat.
All Fridays of Lent are likewise
days of abstinence on which all Catholics 14
years of age and older are obliged to abstain from
eating meat.
